Reverie!
Limerance! Yearning!

Hi friends — posting this one as a late web-only entry. :)
Day 19 prompt: Pick a flower or two (or a whole bouquet, if you like) from this online edition of Kate Greenaway’s Language of Flowers. Write your own poem in which you muse on your selections’ names and meanings.
I used the flowering fern, which means “reverie,” to muse on daydreaming.
flowering fern
i’m lost in
my mind, osmunda.
inklings burst
like spores
like sound
from a trumpet
practicing
for 10,000 hours
makes a prodigy
prophecy: i will
not know what
to say.
(the dream
is green
and shortlived)
the fiddlehead
bowing and
sowing in
time to
collect
the frond atop
a whooly-white
stalk.
